This lamp is powered by a USB cable, for which a plug is provided. The lamp is a open circle shape, but the beam appears solid. It is very bright on its brightest setting and the three white light temperatures are a good variety, suitable for bright illumination of close up project work or bedtime reading. The brightness has ten levels, the brightest is very bright, but the lowest level is very good for reading without disturbing your sleeping partner.The circular lamp is mounted on a very flexible stem. The stem is quite long allowing for easy and varied positioning. The stem is attached to an extremely strong spring clamp ideal for securely attaching it to a table, bedstead, etc.Ive been using this mainly as a bedtime reading light and its perfect for that however, there is one slight annoyance for this purpose in that the control switch has a very bright blue LED that remains on whilst the lamp is plugged in which can disturb your sleep unless you unplug the lamp altogether, or cover up the LED.
