Its a soft metal but light in weight, very easy to install, no earth cable attachment, you have to put the outer beads on yourself but that really isnt hard. Very quiet. Installed in our bedroom. Remote works perfectly changing the light hew, dimming, fan speed and a timer also. Going to purchase more for the other bedrooms
