In theory, these are amazing, however, the white, as opposed to white hue or white colour hue, are only worth going for if theyre under 10 per bulb. The Hue system really does not work very well without the hub unless your home is particularly compact and within the bluetooth range. If I was trying out smart bulbs without a hub I would recommend one of the WiFi versions like Meross. In terms of a hub based system, the best way to think of Hue, is to look at it from a lighting design perspective and see it as a simpler version of a complex integrated system. It definitely has the best integrations of all the systems, and works with everything from Alexa to Smarthings to IFTTT, but requires more technical knowhow than I would have expected. The colour bulbs are phenomenal and worth the extra expense but its hard to justify these unless youre already considering a hue system. Its worth pointing out that they integrate fully with Hive, and are a nice bulb with a central light and a built in diffuser, but I prefer Hive at the price of 10 per bulb.

Super easy to install within a couple minutes. I like it overall. My only complaint is the color temperature. It has 3 settings warm, neutral, cool. I think the cool is very blue, not sure where that color would be appropriate the neutral is a little too cool the warm is a normal, natural temp for a light, the only usable setting IMO. But I was really hoping to use the neutral light. I settled on the warm, its fine. But Id prob try a different option for future purchases.
