i have read that some feel that this light will not trigger unless pitch dark. Our experience is that this light will trigger with substantial amounts of indirect light. Our closet with broad, folding doors is next to a large sliding glass door with unobstructed light pouring into the room. Even in midday, when we enter, the light triggers. This works out just fine because the closets recesses can remain dim so this bright light illuminates quite well.hard to quantify beyond the product description how bright this light is given the number of variables between our closet and, for example, yours. but this is by far the brightest of the similar lights we have seen. i guess the hint is that it take 4 C batteries… so that does pack a strong light. we are completely pleased.
