OK, so the kids have yanked the string that attached to the light fixture so many times i decided not to replace it. Then I tried these bulb things that stick on the walI they take 4 AA batteries which would not be an issue if the kids would remember to shut them off. Then I tried leaving a flash light in the same pantrythey left that on too.This light is amazing One of the best purchases I have ever made. I put it up high enough so they kids cant mess with it. You literally open the door and the light comes on. When you close the door the light goes off with in a minute. It is bright enough o see what you are doing with out having to mess with any switches. Incredible lighting. It actually does turn on when you open the door And installs easily

This was bought to go in my garage which is in darkness without the internal light being turned on. The light switch is at the kitchen end which poor planning is no use when coming in from the side door and looking for indoor shoes. This unit does the job BUT Pasticky quality not particularly bright and is wired to go directly into a ceiling or wall mains supply. Fortunately I have a spare mains socket in the garage roof for an unused door motor option that was not needed so I fixed the light to the ceiling, not flush, with the wire coming out of the side. Yes it works but not very bright at all.Despite my criticism it does what I bought it for. Not pretty, not particularly bright but better than tripping over odds and sods on the flor. I would not consider this actually inside the house.
